My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ali is about 2 years old and came to LFS as one of 6 dogs saved from Alabama. She's on the small side at a little over 40 pounds but is full of love. She was in the shelter for a long time with not a lot of exposure to the outside world, so she is scared when exposed to new surroundings, but she is making great improvement as time goes on! Ali has started to come out of her shell and has shown us what a sweet, loving dog she is. She loves to cuddle!! We are working on crate training.
Ali has finished the first portion of heartworm treatment and is doing well. She still has a little ways to go but is expected to do great. For more information, please email us at labfriendinfo@gmail.com.
ALI NEEDS A FOSTER HOME!!! If you would be interested in fostering, please visit http://www.labradorfriends.com/foster-2 or email labfriendinfo@gmail.com if you are already approved.

Foster Update 06/30: Ali has really found her confidence and is doing amazing! You wouldn’t have known she was scared at all when she came to LFS. She loves going on walks with all of the other dogs and has found her best playmate, who is another dog around her age. They love running around together and are good about sharing toys.

She’s officially house trained and knows to sit before getting let out of her crate. She really is such a good girl. The one thing that hasn’t changed is that she is still the biggest cuddler! Check out our Facebook page for videos of Ali playing in the yard!
Foster Update 06/22: Ali is settling well into her foster home and doing well. Ali was very scared coming into the program and we’re still learning about her as she comes out of her shell. Please read all of her updates since they may change as we learn more.

Ali is way cuter than she looks in her pictures. If you’re looking for a compact-ish lab at 40 pounds who loves cuddles, then Ali is the one for you. She doesn’t look like a typical lab, but she has some lab or some sort of hunting breed since she points with her paw.

We originally listed her as preferring to be an only dog, but she would probably benefit from having a confident non-alpha dog playmate so she can learn from the other dog. She gets scared on walks when noisy cars drive by and she looks at people or other dogs for reassurance. Ali constantly tries to initiate play with her foster brothers but unfortunately for her, they’re not really interested in playing. Later this week, she’ll be spending time with another young retriever mix who likes to play so look for another update soon!
Ali is crated during the workday and has no issues going into her crate for a treat. She has quickly learned the rules and seems to understand “no”. She’s been quick to learn which food bowl is hers and when not to get on the couch. Of course if you let her, she’s all about cuddles on the couch. She seriously loves cuddles and attention.
She’s learning not to jump on people, but she’ll bounce up and down in front of you instead which is adorable. Even though she’s young, she seems past the chewing phase and has only chewed on a dog toy. Ali had huge success with potty training by having a good schedule and lots of praise. She had accidents the first 3 days, but hasn’t had any the past 2 days so we think she’s figured it out.
Ali is really starting to shine each day as she gets more confident and gets the love that she needs. If you think you may be the right one for Ali’s forever home, please fill out an application online!
