My story

AARF only adopts in Richmond, Virginia and the surrounding area.

Hi, I’m Bella! I am 7 years old. I had the same family since I was a puppy but I got very scared in thunderstorms and tried to hide under the carpet, which unfortunately meant I tore up the carpet. So I came to AARF and I am now in a foster home with all wood floors. I’m on medication to help me with anxiety, and even special medication to take before storms. It helps me a lot! I still try to hide in small places like under beds or in corners but I haven’t been destructive in my foster home at all! I can usually be found near my foster mom just being quiet and serene. I like to play fetch and flip my toys in the air and then leap on them. I sometimes “talk” to my Foster Mom to let her know I want to play. I get along fine with my foster brother and sister – we peacefully co-exist and even sleep together! I have very good manners, I come when I’m called, and my Foster Mom says I am a very easy dog to love and take care of! The neighborhood kids like to pet me because I’m calm. I am house-trained. My Foster Mom has found me to be very trustworthy when left in the house when she’s at work! I haven’t had to be in a crate, which is good, because I don’t like to be locked in a crate!
