About DAR- Rescue & Rehabilitation

About Our Rescue Group...

DAR began as a small single individual ran mission to save lives and over the last few years has grown to become an all volunteer and community supported private rescue . Slowly individuals banded together and formed a small organization that eventually branched out and began to work under large well known rescues to save dogs and cats from euthanasia at shelters all over. Through social media, DAR was able to succefully reach out to surrounding areas and help rescue and do TNR. We continue to welcome other rescue groups and partners in our alliance to save animals and push for shelter reform and affordable pet care for low income communities. We are not affiliated with any shelter or other rescue, but do welcome community support and growth through team work.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Potential adopters are welcome to come out and meet the animals or set a meeting with the foster. Please check back for new dates set. WE DO NOT RELY ON ADOPTION EVENTS FOR APPLICANTS TO MEET THE DOGS, so please expect to only meet the dog or cat inquired about in a foster home. If a dog attends an adoption event, and you decide to wait until then, there is no guarantee you will be able to adopt, or that the dog will be held, as adoptions are somewhat based on adoption first come first serve , as long as the applicant and home is adoption good fit for the dog.

As of now, applicants can only meet foster dogs and cats in the fosters home. We do not allow dogs or cats to meet applicants at their home or new environments.

Sometimes there will be a lot of interest in a particular dog or cat and there will be multiple meetings spread apart the same day to allow time for cancelation, the foster will alert those for other meetings if the dog or cat has already been adopted or if they are considering other applicants at the time we try our best to accommodate everyone and sometimes it is not entirely possible. We do try and take take this in to consideration and make it a priority for the next adoption for those who were unable to adopt the first round.

Our Adoption Process...

Adoption process

1)We require an initial application to ensure that the animal being inquired about will be a good fit for the potential adopters. We are unable to answer specific questions about the animal(s) being inquired about, the foster is the only one with more detailed info. We do not provide personal contact info for the foster before hand, the foster will contact the applicant. You must fill out the application and read the rest of the steps and procedures for approval. Please allow a week for response. Sometimes volunteer are unable to get back to every single inquiry, they do their best to, but due to the high volume of inquiries it is not always possible. If there is no response, generally the animal being inquired about is adoption pending or adopted.
Please click the link and fill out the application and continue reading the next steps.

2) Shortly after, the foster for the animal being inquired about will contact the applicant and answer any questions or concerns and proceed with a meeting. We can not guarantee a response for every applicant but we do our best. If you have not heard back from a volunteer then in most cases the dog or cat is adoption pending or we have closed off applications due to an overwhelming response.

3) A home check is mandatory to complete any dog adoptions. Cat adoptions are subject to approval with the coordinator and the foster. The home visit is to ensure the atmosphere is safe and conducive to healthy growth and development for the animal. We do allow out if area adoptions, please discuss this with the foster and their coordinator.

4) Adoption finalization - upon approval of both the foster and the coordinator or the adoption manager, home check is approved, the adoption can be finalized if the animal has already been vetted and an adoption contract and adoption fee will finalize the adoption.

5) All cats and dogs are exposed to other cats and dogs unless otherwise noted. We make no guarantee as to any animals lineage, disposition, or medical history. We disclose any information we have about animals but most come in with unknown histories. We do any necessary medical care prior to adoption along with the rescues standard, spay and neuter, worming and flea treatment, vaccination, and microchiping protocol.

*****your inquiry submission does not guarantee an adoption. We can't hold animals, applicants should be ready to adopt or we will place their application on hold until such a time comes when there will be adequate time for adjustment and bonding with your new companion. Adopters must meet dogs and cats In their foster homes, for both the animals safety and the fosters, we will deny any application that tries to go around that. Please read all of the procedures before inquiring***
