Approximate DOB 04/01/2016

Size - About 19 lbs

History- It all started with just one Facebook post-- an angry young lady who found a bald sickly dog on the side of a road.. Another person saying yes that they would foster once we put it on our volunteer page (we seriously have some amazing foster parents in our program!!)... A shelter who cared enough to help us round them up - they would text or call us as soon as another fitting the description was picked up or surrendered to them.. A wonderful vet clinic who has seen us at the drop of a dime every time we have gotten a call that another one from this group was found (three were dumped on the side of busy roads throughout Valencia County - Los Chavez, Belen, and Tome and one was taken to the shelter).. We now have 4 dogs in treatment for demodex and as you scroll through the photos on our facebook page you will see how much they have changed.. Hermione was the worse -- she was scabbed over and full of infection, she could barely move, and Melba at The Canine Bungalow was very worried she wouldn't make it... She checked on her constantly -- putting her food and water and meds in the bed with her so she didn't have to get up (she was in so much pain she could barely move).. Thank you to those who have donated for their care-- this is where your money goes when you donate-- dogs like this who just need a little more time, care, and love.. We have 2 girls Hermione and Bellatrix and 2 boys Draco and Lucius..

Temperament- Very sweet, playful, and happy. Loves everyone- would be perfect for taking out in public, hanging out, and meeting new people..

Energy Level- Higher level energy- very athletic.

Other Dogs/Cats- She loves to play chase and wrestle with the other dogs. Would be a great hiking, biking, or jogging partner. She is one of those dogs who will easily adjust to whatever her family asks of her with the other dogs and cats (we have cats in the rescue just loose in the living room and she tries to be friends with them and so she will crawl up to them but they don't care for dogs so will usually swat at her and make her sad)

House trained- She usually goes outside every few hours and when we aren't home she goes in her crate.. She uses potty pads as well..

This sweet girl would make a wonderful addition to any family wanting a sweet, loving, athletic little girl to join their family. She loves attention, playing, and cuddling with her loved ones.. She is absolutely adorable and just soooo very sweet. You have to meet her to truly appreciate how wonderful she is.

Adoption fee $300 includes spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations (4 for puppies), deworming, microchip, rabies vacc, collar and tags, training information, and all the support you need.

About Almost Home NM

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a newly formed rescue in Peralta, NM. We are still very small and currently in process of getting our 501c3 tax exempt status. It is mainly just myself, my two daughters and a small group of volunteers. We only take in animals from shelters who are scheduled to be put down. All animals are housed in my home and on my property. We started this rescue due to the simple fact that there are so many wonderful dogs dying everyday at the shelters because there just isn't enough room.We do not discriminate against any breed. Every dog has the potential to be a great family pet, working dog, or therapy dog- just as every dog has the potential to become a "dangerous dog" due to the simple fact that they all (or most anyway) have teeth and can bite when provoked or trained to obey their owners commands.
We do it for the love of the animals and the need to find forever homes for the ones impounded due to no fault of their own.

Our Adoption Process...

If you are interested in adopting from us but have questions please feel free to e-mail me.

In order to start the application process you must send us an e-mail request for an application. We will e-mail it to you as soon as possible. Then just fill it out and send it back via e-mail. Once we receive it then we can schedule an appointment for you to come out and meet the animals.

We are not an open to the public facility with specific hours of operation. We are a foster home and therefore require an application submitted before an appointment can be made and directions given out.

If you would like to adopt from out of state then you must be willing to come out to meet and adopt the pet you are interested in.. We do not ship pets nor will we meet someone somewhere.. We want adopters to come out and spend at least an hour with this pet in their environment before adopting just to ensure there is a connection. We would hate for the adoption to not work and be so far away.
