SPECTRA's Info...

I am already spayed, in need of an experienced adopter, up to date with shots, good with kids, and good with dogs.

SPECTRA's Story...
SPECTRA was saved from one of the shelters we work with in Texas. She is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm and tick-disease tested; Negative and micro-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 22 March 2017 and has an estimated weight of 7 pounds. SPECTRA's mother, DUSTY is a Schnauzer mix - we do not know what breed his father is. She has 2 siblings, FRANKIE & CLAWD. We have no idea how big she will grow, DUSTY is 37 pounds.

SPECTRA is a young girl with a LOT of energy bursting to get out. She can get vocal in a playful way but is very responsive. She gets very excited and playful and is a happy, go-lucky girl, full of fun, life and energy. She loves to nibble on your toes. SPECTRA is at that goofy age but is also very affectionate and loves to get cuddles and her belly rubbed and ear scratched. She loves toys and especially loves to chew on the cow hooves. She gets on great with other dogs of all sizes.

SPECTRA has been around dogs since She was just a few weeks old and so She is extremely dog socialized with dogs of all sizes and many different breeds. She is friendly with new people and children. She has not had a collar or leash on and will be initially wary of going to new places, so patience will be needed until trust and confidence with the big wide world has been gained.

We do NOT have cats at the rescue so are unable to say how she would get on with cats.

SPECTRA is going to need a family that is used to big, smart dogs. Who understand that she will need training and guidance and learns that humans are in charge. We advise that families work on their own basic training so that boundaries and expectations can be set and personalities and body language learnt in the process, which will help form a much stronger bond.

Going on road trips, to new places, hikes and adventures and letting her explore the sights, smells and sounds the world has to offer will be to her and your benefit. SPECTRA will make a great family addition, she is fun, active and very loving and deserves a good family and home to call her own.

SPECTRA is available for adoption from Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $550.

This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed. We get a lot of interest in puppies and need to be sure families are ready for the hard work puppies bring into the home, who have the time to work with them and ensure they grow up with good manners and a life-long commitment to them.

If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious soul a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the APPLICATION tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 2-4 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then you complete and submit the contract, make payment and then we can work out the pick up / transport arrangements.

Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks. Priority is given to approved applications who can come and pick up the dog the soonest so that we can then save another dog from the kill shelters in Texas.

SPECTRA is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Sebec is located just outside the towns of Dover-Foxcroft and Milo (approx 8 miles) and approx 45 miles from Bangor. There are also lots of hotels, motels, pet friendly accommodations and wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend. If there are options to arrange transport, we will work with you to make it happen.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

SPECTRA, a Halifax Schnauzer (Standard) puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Schnauzer (Standard) for sale in Halifax, or seeking a Schnauzer (Standard) puppy from a breeder in Halifax.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Halifax already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Halifax breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Schnauzer (Standard) breeders who help with Schnauzer (Standard) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Halifax paves the way for another one to be saved.
