"GELERT" - 3 year old Border Collie, Tri Colored, Neutered Male, 55 pounds
Adoption Fee - $300

Well, gents and ladies, we introduce to you today Master Gelert! Named after the mythical Irish dog, Gelert is about as handsome as a border collie you could hope to meet. He started his journey into rescue after being surrendered to a shelter in East Tennessee. He had a terrible skin infection, and was missing over half of his hair. He had obviously been neglected for quite some time. But, within just a few short months in foster care, Gelert has made a wonderful recovery (as you can see from his pics). He's fully vetted now, heartworm negative, and is ready to move on to his permanent home!

Gelert LOVES all people. He runs happily to anyone who will give him affection. He can be a little pushy in wanting to hug and jump on folks when he gets excited, but some firm commands settle him down. He would excel in formal obedience training if given the opportunity. He has met small children while in foster care and has done very well, and originally came from a home with children. Gelert must be placed in a home without cats or other dogs. He does not get along well with either.

He would be exceptionally happy in a home with people that are home most of the time, and who have a nice big privacy fenced in yard where he can run and safely play (or a large amount of property that he could be trained to stay on). He loves walks, and enjoys long romps in the woods. Being with his people is his favorite thing! We haven't noticed any ball or frisbee drive with him, but sleeping with his people on the couch is definitely something he enjoys! Gelert has some separation anxiety that leads to excessive barking when he can't be with his people. He will calm down once he's gotten the routine down (and knows his people are coming back). He isn't destructive of things, and is housetrained.

Gelert is neutered, heartworm negative, up-to-date on vaccines, microchipped, and up-to-date on monthly preventatives. We estimate his DOB to be around 06/01/2014.. He is in foster care in East Tennessee. His adoption fee includes all vetting and transport to adopter.

About Pooches & Purrs Cooperative - Brattleboro

About Our Rescue Group...

Pooches & Purrs Cooperative is a group of rescues and individual rescuers that are working hard to find loving homes for the dogs, cats, kittens and puppies that find their way into our care through no fault of their own. Each individual or group has several wonderful dogs In Tennessee, Alabama or Kentucky looking for homes! All of them are completely vetted and neutered/spayed (if age appropriate) and on heartworm protection. All of them come with complete medical records. Their adoption fee of $500 covers their complete age appropriate vetting and heartworm preventative as well as their transportation to your area.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our rescues don't have an actual shelter building in the New England area. Due to this it is not always possible to meet them prior to their adoption. At times, a dog may be in foster care in New England and their bio will clearly be marked as such. These southern dogs & cats are brought up to their new owners weekly! We have a 14 day money back guarantee and the pet can be rehomed appropriately if things don't work out. Each group tries hard to get good matches in your homes so that everyone has a happy life together! To date the cooperative has placed over a two thousand dogs and puppies, cats and kittens in loving New England homes! Each group has many, many, references of happy adopters up in your area that can fill you in on their experience. Just email and they can pass along that information for your convenience.
