Peter-ADOPTED!'s Story...
Peter is a 10 yr. old male coonhound, left behind in the Mercer County Pound in Celina, Ohio. Peter was a hunting dog all of his life, and is now too old to hunt. After a lifetime of loyalty his owners dumped him at the pound. Wouldn't it be wonderful to finally show this old boy what being a beloved pet feels like?

Many of the hounds that we take in are thrown away hunting dogs. They adjust quickly to living in a home(love it!) and thoroughly enjoy having people companionship. They also house train easily especially if they have another dog to follow. Belly bands prevent a dog from marking and work great for house training males.

If you can find it in your heart to give this poor old boy a foster or forever home please contact us at han.nah@sympatico.ca for a foster application or fill out our on line adoption application at

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Peter-ADOPTED!, a Ontario English (Redtick) Coonhound/Hound (Unknown Type) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a English (Redtick) Coonhound/Hound (Unknown Type) for sale in Ontario, or seeking a English (Redtick) Coonhound/Hound (Unknown Type) dog from a breeder in Ontario.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Ontario already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Ontario breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even English (Redtick) Coonhound/Hound (Unknown Type) breeders who help with English (Redtick) Coonhound/Hound (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Ontario paves the way for another one to be saved.
