Hello!  My name is Willa!  I am a young Treeing Walker Coonhound and I am a very sweet but curious and busy girl.  I am about 3 years old.

Willa does get along with other dogs and would do well in a home where she can have fenced yard to run around in. She also has a unique smile.... she shows her teeth but she's really just smiling at you. Willa seems stand-offish when first meeting strangers but quickly warms up. Willa is approximately 3 years old.

Willa will sit for her treats and will also smile.  Some may say it looks weird but she is just showing you her smile.

We highly recommend that Willa's new family continue with her training through an obedience class or a training plan.  She is a good dog that has lots of potential.

Please Note:   We are all volunteers and busy taking care of our foster dogs so please take the time to fill out our on-line adoption application if you are interested in more information about any of the hounds that we have for adoption. Filling out our application does not obligate you to adopt in any way.  It does, however, help us to determine if the dog that your interested in would be a good match for your family and lifestyle.

All of our dogs are fully vetted.  They have been vaccinated, altered, microchipped and heartworm tested and on prevention.

About Gentle Jake's Coonhound Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Gentle Jake's Coonhound Rescue is a small, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the memory of my beloved coonhound Jake. Our volunteers are dedicated to helping homeless and abandoned coonhounds find loving and permanent homes as indoor pets. We are based and operate in Ontario. We have been rescuing these wonderful hounds since 2003. We are also a member of Coonhound Companions where our goal is to educate the public about misconception that hounds do not make good family pets. We want to share our love of coonhounds with the whole continent, with hopes of inspiring dog lovers everywhere to consider adopting a coonhound.

Come Meet Our Pets...

If you would like to meet one of our hounds please contact us as they are located in foster homes throughout Ontario. We always in need of more foster homes. Please contact us to find out how you can help a coonhound today!

Our Adoption Process...

All adoptive homes are required to go through a screening process that includes a telephone interview, filling out an application, reference checks and a home visit. An adoption donation is required to offset some of the costs incurred in caring for and re-homing each coonhound. Bluetick Gentle Jake's Coonhound Rescue remains committed to each animal for the rest of its life and if, at any time and for any reason, the adoption does not work out, we require that the hound be returned to us.
