found a new home!
Plenty of my friends are looking
for one too. Find a pet to adopt.
I am already spayed, housetrained, purebred, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and good with cats.
Heidi has just made her way to Gentle Jake’s Coonhound Rescue please be sure to check back for updates as we get to know her better. She is a pretty, petite English coonhound mix, just 45lbs.
Since her arrival, Heidi has been the life of the party! All puppy, she has been happily exploring her new surroundings by nose and by mouth, checking everything out and trying to get her new canine and feline housemates, to play with her. She likes to carry items in her mouth: towels, clothes, blankets, shoes from one place to the next.
She doesn’t destroy or chew them; but enjoys moving things around.
Heidi’s soft, beautiful fur and playful, funny disposition suggests she is quite young. She doesn’t seem to have any experience walking on a leash or any understanding of basic behaviours such as “sit.” Yet!
She took the stairs 3 at a time the first evening. Heidi can be timid and skittish when she’s unsure, but she’s a quick and willing learner with calm, cheerful encouragement and yummy rewards. She responds appropriately and easily to gentle re-direction when mouthing on something that isn’t a chew-toy and loves to pitch her toys in the air and return them to the couch. Once tired, she’s very happy to settle in for snuggle-and-snooze time on the couch with her people and is really affectionate and sweet. As with all young dogs, Heidi will benefit from doggie good manners training and from regular opportunities to socialize with experienced, polite dogs at a doggie daycare facility or securely fenced dog park.
Temperament: Playful, timid, and affectionate Activity level: medium-high energy, in short bursts. Needs nap time in between. Crate trained: crates well overnight and for nap time.
Origin: Kentucky shelter; stray
Requirements: securely fenced yard is required at all times; no apartment; positive-based training classes following adoption; ideally another well socialized dog in the home; no off-leash activities without safe containment (ie. hiking, camping, cottaging).

Please Note: We are all volunteers and busy taking care of our foster dogs so please take the time to fill out our on-line adoption application if you are interested in more information about any of the hounds that we have for adoption. Filling out our application does not obligate you to adopt in any way. It does, however, help us to determine if the dog that your interested in would be a good match for your family and lifestyle.
