My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mr. Mom has a very strange and sad story - one that got more and more convoluted as we researched him. A young man was at a local park with a friend and noticed a white Honda van with a lady and what was presumed to be her young daughter get out and dump Mr. Mom and two kittens in an open field. They realized they were being watched and quickly got in the van and drove up a ways, got out and dropped some more cats (one of which was picked up by another person and sadly, another which was run over). The young man and his friend called their sister who lived nearby and she immediately came with a carrier. All three cats walked right up to them. They were very hungry so not only were they dumped to fend for themselves, they weren't even fed first! They were also totally covered with fleas. It was presumed that this was a mom and her kittens as the kittens remained close and the behavior was very maternal with licking and grooming from big cat to kittens, not to mention they all looked alike. They were taken home and Furry Friends was contacted and asked if they could help. Mama cat was discovered to be a he and acquired his name, Mr. Mom, which he well deserves. Upon taking Mr. Mom to the vet, it was learned that he was microchipped by a local animal shelter. The chip had not been registered, but was traceable. Mr. Mom had arrived in the shelter with an identical brother in late February (named Lo Mein and Chow Mein). He had gotten extremely ill and almost died so he was at the shelter for a few weeks. He was adopted out in late March and already dumped in late May, covered in fleas with two orange kittens (Hansel and Gretel - also available for adoption through FFAR). Mr. Mom is a fantastic cat! He has stunning deep gold eyes and gets along with everything in his foster home - kids, cats and dogs. He is still very maternal with the two kittens, periodically checking on them and giving them a lick. Although it was assumed he was mom at first and then probably dad to the kittens, it is unlikely he is related at all. If only he could talk and tell us what happened in between being adopted at the shelter and being dumped in a field with so many other cats. Because of his microchip, we have more information than we normally would, but it is still lacking. What is known is that he is a wonderful amazing cat and deserves far better than he has had thus far in the way of a loving forever home where he will be cared for and kept safe. If you have room in your forever home and heart for this sweetheart of a young cat, please fill out an application and adopt him today!
