The first picture you see is what I saw the first time I was introduced to (now named) Merk. For the first year and half of his life....this was his life. A heavy logging chain around his neck connected with a lock 👿
Well folks move on to the next photo and you will see this boy no longer has the dingy grey ring around his neck, or the sadness in his eyes. Today those eyes are bright and truly mesmerizing, his eyes are the same color of the perfect spots on his big floppy ears. He has discover a love of throw, when I say throw, I mean we throw the ball he runs after it....and we fetch it. Good exercise for human and pup.
Merk is goofy, clumsy and most of all thankful. You can really get a sense that he is thankful for a life of freedom, fun and trust. Merk is good with other dogs, great with children, and patiently learning leash manners. He is energetic and he will happily accompany you in any extracurricular actives i.e. Hiking, running, biking. You can't find a sweeter dog to share your life with. As for his breed...we are all still scratching our heads but the closest verdict we could come up with is Pointer/Hound/Lab...aka ADORABLE MUTT!
Share Merk with you friend and have your friends share!!

About Heaven Can Wait Animal Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Heaven Can Wait began it's journey of saving lives in October of 2010. 4 women, 1 dream, and mission of saving dogs. We all have volunteered in shelters and realized that shelter pets needed another option, because for most of them when their time was up, that was it.

January of 2012 we opened our "Lodge"(we call it that cause we DO NOT like the shelter word and we try not to even say it around our dogs). It's amazing, we try to make our dogs feel as comfortable and at home as possible. Because after all we are preparing them for their furever home.

We are a small rescue and we are so proud of all of the lives we have saved and are going to save....this is only the beginning. Also, we are helping our community become educated about pet care, spay and neuter, and what a shelter life can be for an animal.

Last but not least I have to brag about our volunteers, without them we could not exist. They are truly the backbone, they foster, help with fundraisers, network our dogs, and most of all have the same passion we do.

We are strictly a non-profit rescue located in a small southern Kentucky town. We survive off of fundraiser and donations. We decided early on that we wanted to keep all of our pups on a consistent diet all the time.

If you want to help this is a great way to help because the second largest expense we have is dog food. We feed Pedigree adult food, Purina puppy chow and who could forget about the Milk Bones!! Everyone needs to be rewarded right.

There are all kinds of ways you can help: Help network our pets for adoption, donate to the day to day use items such as:paper towels, bleach, Pedigree dog food, Milk Bones, dish washing detergent, laundry detergent, dog toy, collars, leashes, blankets, kundra beds, foster, ect.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We do our meet and greet and adoptions by appointment only.

Please call 270.847.9544 if you would like to schedule an appointment.

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption process is quite simple. If you are interested in meeting or adopting one of our pets, please fill out an adoption application for review. After reviewing your application we will contact you and arrange a meet and greet with your potential new fur baby if your applications is approved. We have several of our pets in foster care so we have to work around foster mommy and daddies schedules.
