My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello there! My name is Midori and I'm an 8 year old female Indian Ringneck. My name means "Green" in Japanese and I certainly am a pretty green bird, I'm the most lovely shade of olive green you'll ever see!

I am a very happy, social little bird and I love to be wherever the action is. I’m what the Rescue calls an equal opportunity lover which means I will happily step up for both men and women, especially if I see you have an almond! I have never had my wings clipped and I'm used to being able to fly around whenever I want, for our safety though Florida Parrot Rescue practices wing clipping unless medically advised against by an avian vet. That doesn’t bother me, I still love to scuttle over and be the center of attention! I’m pretty vocal too, I can whistle several songs, give kisses, and make lots of adorable noises! Sometimes I’m TOO sociable, you might want to take your phone calls in another room cause if I hear you on the phone I will even try to join the conversation, we parrots are just social like that.

My foster mom thinks I am okay around four legged friends, since I make noises that sound like a dog barking and a squeaky toy, but make sure to always supervise me with other pets. I also get along well with other birds, though you should never leave me alone with them since I have a very strong beak and I'm not afraid to use it! I would prefer a home with other birds about the same size as me. If you’re not sure how big an indian ringneck like me is, we’re slightly bigger than sun conures. I’d consider anything between a cockatiel and a large conure, like a Golden conure, to be ‘my size’. Perhaps you have a moderately sized parrot who’s looking for a buddy?

Right now I am not the best eater, I would prefer to eat nothing but nuts, but my foster mom says they aren't very "nutritious" (whatever that means!), and she's trying to introduce me to things like broccoli and pellets. FPR recommends a diet consisting of 50% chop (fresh fruits and veggies), 40% pellet and 10% treats, I’m so spoiled though I wish it was 100% treats but my vet says I’d get ‘fat’ if I ate like that (not sure what ‘fat’ means).

Would you like to come meet me and see if I could be part of your family? In the meantime perhaps you’d consider sending me some gifts? I have my own amazon wish list with lots of great toys, foods and accessories! https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/21A5AVQ5HOX1Z?&sort=default

Thank you so much for stopping by and reading about me. I sure do hope you will come to meet me soon!!

An avian veterinarian has properly vetted all birds before they are placed up for adoption. Adoption fees include the bird's cage IF the bird has a cage - most do, but please ask!
