Rio is an adult female Basenji (high mix) who is 4 yrs old and weighs 33 lbs.  She was rescued from death row along with her newborn litter of 7 puppies.  They have all found homes, and now she is ready for one of her own.  Rio is quiet, intelligent, and mild mannered.  She is good with other people, but remains aloof until she gets to know them.  She is would do best in a home with no kids or older kids, and no small dogs or cats.
Rio is housetrained, cage trained and is learning it is fun to go for a ride.  She walks ok on a leash, but could use some manners.  She is sensitive, and responds well to verbal commands.  Rio is spayed and fully vetted.  She is a Gorgeous dog who needs daily walks and play time to keep her healthy.

Rio has heartworms.  While she is getting treatment, we would still like to help her find a home that would be ready to adopt her when she is finished with treatment on July 4th.  We treated 31 dogs for heartworms last year.  Heartworms are very common in GA.  These dogs get treatment and go on to live a normal and happy full life.  Please consider Rio!

About Pregnant Dog Rescue, Inc.

About Our Rescue Group...

Pregnant Dog Rescue, Inc. is staffed entirely by volunteers. Without them, we literally would not exist.
Want to join our team? We’re always looking for people who can share their time and talents with us. Currently, we’re looking for…
• Adoption Coordinators
• Fosters
• Fundraising Managers
• Grant Writers
• Transportation
• Marketing & Communication
Adoption Coordinators
Adoption Coordinators are our volunteers who see each adoption through from start to finish. They play a vital role at Pregnant Dog Rescue!
Coordinators are assigned a specific group of dogs on our site. When an application comes in for one of these dogs, coordinators begin by interviewing the applicant over the phone followed by checking references. If approved, the adoption coordinator puts the applicants and fosters in touch or helps to facilitate a meet and greet with our local dogs.
Each application takes approximately one-hour to process over the course of one to two days on average.
The more dogs we can foster, the more dogs we can save.
We’re always looking for foster caregivers to provide our dogs with safe homes and lots of TLC until they’re adopted.

Fundraising Managers
When we rescue dogs, they often need vaccines, medical treatment and rehabilitation. To help us continue our life saving work, we’re always looking for people with creative fundraising ideas.

Grant Writers
One of the biggest boosts to the work we do comes from grants from organizations like the ASPCA. We need people who can identify grants and help us submit applications.

We often need help getting our dogs to and from the vet, to foster or adoptive homes, and to pet fairs. We also get donations of food, toys and veterinary supplies that need to get delivered from the donor.
Marketing & Communication
One of the simplest ways to help is to spread the word about what we do. Link to our webpage, tweet about us, and tell your friends. We also need someone to post news items on our website.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Please feel free to call or email us at anytime! We have no set hours of operation as these babies need constant care so we are always on call.
We pride ourselves in that we are not only here to help the dogs, but people too. We believe that in general the rescue community overlooks that fact. Without other people, we would not be able to help these moms and puppies. We are open and honest and expect others to be the same. We are an open book. We feel that we can contribute greatly to the human bond with all dogs by also creating a bond with the people that cross our paths. This means if you need help, we will do our best to help you and your dog. If you would like to adopt, we are very friendly, open and willing to make things work for you. We do our best to make the best matches possible.
