Burton was purchased as a kitten and until a while ago, he lived the life of a little king. This was before the small children entered his world. Perhaps due to his more mature age, he doesn’t like the competition of the young children and is missing the undivided attention he used to receive from his owner when she was single. His owner has come to the sad but true realization that she doesn’t have the time or the space to devote to this little guy any longer and has reached out to our organization to help find him a permanent home where he can spend the rest of his life in harmony with someone who thinks he is the cat’s meow and has the time to devote to him.
His owner describes him as a very loving, cuddly kitty that enjoys attention and loves to play. He loves playing with balls, especially ping pong balls. He also loves anything with catnip. He likes to lick you when you are petting him. He will nip or paw at you if you are doing something he doesn’t like – well, I guess since he can’t talk, he’ll just have to show you. His personality is described as more dog-like because of the amount of attention that he likes and also his sweet temperament.
In recent years he has become very upset about getting his nails clipped and when having his tail or tummy brushed, so you might need to have a groomer take care of these tasks.
It has been many years since he was around other cats, but he seemed to get along fine with them. He has also been exposed to dogs and is comfortable with them.
He likes to come cuddle in bed for a while and then will usually get down before you fall asleep. He usually “asks” to come up on the bed and waits for you to move the comforter out of the way before he jumps up.
He does suffer from hyperthyroidism and is currently on 1/4 of a 5 mg tablet twice a day. The medication is inexpensive and he gobbles it up when it is mixed in with his wet food.
