Hi there! It's Ryder!

I was just wondering if any of you have seen my new family? You see, I lost my old family months ago and they never came looking for me. I don't know why because I'm a wonderful dog.
I'm very loving and affectionate. I'm also very energetic and athletic! I would love my own active family with maybe a high-energy doggie playmate to keep me busy? But no cats though. I really, really like cats, but not in a friendly way! More kind of in an eating way. But that's okay, because if you have me you won't even WANT a cat!
Come visit me please at the Humane Society. I'm so good looking, my pictures just don't do me justice! And I promise I'm a really Good Boy!

About Humane Society of Port Jervis/Deerpark

About Our Shelter...

At the Humane Society of Port Jervis/Deerpark we are passionate about ensuring the protection and welfare of all animals in need. This is the legacy of our founder Robert Kleinstuber, who began the shelter in 1959 as a memorial to his beloved dog, Jeff.

Our mission is to protect and serve animals during their greatest time of need, assist our community pets and their people, and offer homeless pets a second chance at a first-rate life. By providing humane education along with free or low-cost resources, we hope to reduce the homeless pet population in our area.

We currently provide animal control impound services for 10 municipalities in Orange & Sullivan Counties and are proud to provide low-cost spay/neuter clinics, adoption and re-homing services, humane education, and community assistance to the tri-state area.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our shelter is open to the public Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from 11 am - 4 pm, Thursday and Friday from 11 am - 7 pm. We are closed to the public on Monday and Tuesday.

Our Adoption Process...

We require all of our adopters to go through an application process that generally takes about 48 hours to complete. Veterinary references and homeowner/landlord information is requested. If there are other pets in the home, we recommend a meet and greet to assess compatibility. In home visits may be conducted in some situations. Adoption fees vary based on the animals.
