Sumatra's Story...
Meet Nyles and Sumatra! This pair came to DHA because their owners were moving. They are both very friendly and seek out attention. They are currently in one of our free-roaming rooms where they quickly befriended many of the other cats. Nyles is a brown tabby male and Sumatra is a black female and both are a year old. They are a playful and loving pair and enjoy interacting with visitors to the room. They are a bonded pair and need to be adopted together

We are not yet sure how they are with dogs or kids. As we get to know them, we will let you know. Nyles and Sumatra are available and able to have applications submitted once you've met. For more information, please give us a call at (302) 571-0111 or visit us at our center (701 A Street Wilmington, DE) Tuesday-Friday 12-7pm or Saturday & Sunday 12-5pm.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sumatra, a Wilmington Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Wilmington, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Wilmington.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Wilmington already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Wilmington breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Wilmington paves the way for another one to be saved.
