My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Brody: ~12 month old neutered male red Lab/Lab mix, ~ 75 pounds

Brody is a wonderful, active young boy who was picked up as a stray and ended up in the shelter. Initially we thought he was a back yard dog with no training, but as we’ve gotten to know him better, we can’t figure out why no one has come looking for him! His obedience is solid: he knows Sit, Down, Come Here, Heel, Shake and Watch Me. He needs real work on his leash manners; he pulls and he’s strong! He seems to like children and want to play with them. He’s been introduced to female dogs and has done fine; we’ll introduce him to male dogs when he settles down a bit (we think right now they might not be in love with his in-your-face energy!). He should settle down a bit with regular exercise, and time for the hormones to leave his body!

The right family for Brody would be one who has experience with young large dogs, including experience with training, and one that has the time to provide vigorous exercise (45 minutes or more twice/day) which could be a brisk walk or run. We think Brody is about 75 pounds, so his adopter would need to be physically able to handle his size and energy level. We think Brody would be happy in a home with dog savvy older children (7 or 8 and above) who can handle his size and his energy.
Brody is neutered, current on vaccinations and micro-chipped. Lab Rescue will have him heartworm tested and on preventive, before he goes to his forever home. Brody is located in San Jose; he will move to his foster home within the next week or so.

If you are interested in adding this lovely boy to your family (or know someone who might be), and have the time, energy and experience to work with a great pup like Brody, call Rescue Rep Debbi 408-613-2044 or email dragonflydebbi@gmail.com.

(Please keep in mind we are all volunteers, most of us work full time and we all have personal lives. I do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient and I will be back in touch with you. When the dogs are in foster homes then it may take longer as we need to touch base with the fosters for updates on the dogs. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in. They are scattered all over the Bay Area.)
