Liz was brought to CAHS by a Good Samaritan who began feeding her when she was a skinny stray. That worked well because now she tips the scale at 13 pounds. Liz's left rear leg is just a stump and her finder reports that she was like that he found her, which was about 2-1/2 years ago. She gets around very well, but she could benefit from some weight loss to ease the stress on that right rear leg. Liz loves to have her big face petted and scratched and she shows her pleasure by purring and making biscuits with her paws. She has done well with the other cats here at the shelter, so should adjust fine to a multi-cat home. Liz is ready to be your kitty!

About Capital Area Humane Society

About Our Shelter...

For 133 years, the Capital Area Humane Society has been sheltering homeless animals, fighting animal cruelty and neglect, and offering programs to address the needs of animals in our community. More than 92 percent of our funding is provided by donations and fees for services. We are not a government agency, and we do not receive general operating support from national organizations. The Capital Area Humane Society relies on the support of private donors and volunteers to make our work possible.

Since 1883 the Capital Area Humane Society has been dedicated to providing only the highest quality of care for everyone we serve, animals and people alike. We are a team of experts—skilled, caring and compassionate people dedicated to our mission of fighting animal cruelty, helping animals in need and advocating for their well-being.

Our Adoption Process...

You’ll meet an Adoption Counselor to go over applications and discuss the animal you’re considering. We work with you to ensure your family, home and new family member is a perfect fit.
2. We’ll review all the documents and permissions (support from other adults in home, landlord permission and home ownership verification).
3. If your adoption is approved, your new pet can go home with you the same day providing they have had their spay/neuter surgery. If they haven't had their surgery yet, we will let you know when their surgery is scheduled and you can usually pick them up the next day.
