My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

AUGUST 2017 UPDATE ON LEVI
Levi has been thriving under his foster mom's care for a little while now, and he has blossomed into a wonderful senior between 8-9 years. Initially, Levi was unsure of how to relate to his other paw fosters, but over time, he is now playing with others and adapting to life in a multi dog environment. It is pretty certain that Levi was brought up as a back yard dog with little attention. He is now basking in the attention and is playing well with others. Levi especially loves to ball play, he will fetch and return for hours if left to his own devices. Of course, Levi is smart, he's a Border Collie, and is picking up on his manners and how to behave inside the house.. Levi would make an excellent companion for anyone who would like to open their home to a great senior who will love you back a million times. We do not recommend that he be placed with children nor cats. Levi has learned to get along with both male and female dogs. He does like to be in control of the ball though!I would not recommend a home with small dogs because of the high prey nature of border collies.
It has been a delight seeing Levi transform into the dog he is now.

Meet Levi.  What a nice male 8-10 years young senior he is.  He is a traditional black and white Border Collie with a rough coat.  This poor dog was picked up at his owner's request and relinquished to a high kill IE shelter along with his gal pal Bunny.  It is apparent that Levi had been neglected for a very long time. Take a look at this gorgeous dog now. His coat glistens and he has warm, gentle eyes that are now full of sparkle.  Because he is a rough coat, her will need lots of brushing.

We are recommending that Levi be an only dog because of some resource guarding of his human. He can be jealous.  Due to this, he can’t be placed in a home with small children.  Levi can a bit shy when he meets you, but he warms up quickly.  Levi craves human interaction and would love a home where his person is retired or works part time from home.  Don’t let Levi’s age fool you, as he requires plenty of exercise.  He is fine with his foster brothers and sisters, but wants all the attention for himself.

Levi is a bit strong on the leash and he needs someone to be the leader and not let him pull them.  Levi loves to play fetch with a tennis ball,  He is fixated on his ball, and will play all day if you let him.  He has not been evaluated with cats.  We are working on Levi’s potty manners, as it is apparent he was neglected as a back yard dog.

Levi is looking for his person with which he can forge a strong bond.

Please open your heart and home to adopting a senior. BCIN takes in more than a fair share of the senior BCs, as it is fact that adoption rates in the shelter are reduced significantly once a dog reaches 5 years of age. BCIN was Levi's only hope of making it out of the shelter and we gladly welcomed him into our rescue program with open arms. Levi will be adopted under our senior program. This means we reduce our adoption fee significantly so that he can find a loving home where he can spend the rest of his golden years.

If you are interested in meeting our dogs, please fill out an adoption application.  We require a pre-approved application to be on file before any meet and greets are scheduled.  The electronic application can be found on our website at http://www.bordercolliesinneed.org/border_collie_rescue_and_adoptions/adoption_application.html
