My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ANGEL is a 6-month-old spayed female yellow lab. Angel weighs 35 pounds and is up to date on shots. This dog is approved for homes with children ages 10 and up.

DESCRIPTION Angel is your friend from the minute you meet her. She runs, and jumps and plays like a typical 6 month old puppy but her front legs look different and I thought her legs were messed up. Her legs are perfectly normal for a lab puppy that has some Bassett in her. In fact you can pay big bucks for them if they are called Bassadors but we are just calling her Angel. She thinks she should be a LapLab and will crawl in your lap if you sit on the ground next to her. She hasn't started to play with toys yet, she will go over to look but is not interested in playing with it. She's good around other dogs and wants to play, play, play. If you are looking for a buddy who is active and friendly then Angel is the pup for you. She would like an active family that has a yard for her to play in. Good with other dogs. Knows sit, and sometimes down. Angel is a young pup who can use some additional training so she will have a Training Addendum. Okay on lead better with an Easy Walk Harness. Crate trained working on house training. From shelter rescue coordinator Angel was surrendered to the shelter due to them moving to an apartment and can't take her with them. She is a young puppy who is active and loves to be with you to get treats and attention.

Adopters must meet these requirements:
Setting: Rural, Suburban
Dwelling: Single Family Home
Fencing: Needs fence either physical or underground.

Update: Had Angel and Adison out playing they did well together. Angel wasn't sure why Adison was dancing around with a toy in her mouth but was soon chasing Adison around the yard. They soon swapped off the toy and Adison was soon chasing Angel who would hop up on the table . They had a ball playing together and are looking forward to going to a new home.

Update: Angel is an adorable little girl with the softest fur. Pure puppy. She loves to play, play, play with her foster sister; and has thoroughly enjoyed plundering the toy box. Her stubby Bassett forelegs give her an exotic uniqueness but definitely don't slow her down. She is working hard on her manners and house training. Angel has been crated at night and when foster mom is out of the house and while she'd prefer to be up and about, she settles down pretty quickly. Angel walks well on a leash and is a good car rider.

Angel is from a rural area and has not been exposed to traffic, noise, or groups of people. If dogs are overwhelmed by their environment, they can exhibit behaviors like excessive barking. To avoid this, for now we are limiting placement to stand alone single family homes in a suburban neighborhood or rural area. As we learn more from the dog's time spent in foster, we will evaluate if placement can be expanded to include a more urban environment and send out an update.
