Dale's Story...
If you would like more information about Dale or are interested in adopting him, please send an email to jschonsc@ius.edu

My husband and I noticed a stray cat in our neighborhood had a litter of kittens. Unfortunately, a few days later we discovered the mom had died. We were able to rescue two kittens, Dale and his brother Chip. Dale is a little scared but will let you scratch under his chin softly or pet him softly while he is eating. They both lick kitten milk and wet food off our fingers as well as eat out of a dish. Dale is still getting used to being in a new, strange place. But kittens are very adaptable and we think Dale will be comfortable very soon. Unfortunately, we can’t keep the kittens and are looking for a good home for them (either together or separately).

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Dale, a Houston Domestic Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Houston, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Houston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Houston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Houston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Houston paves the way for another one to be saved.
