We are a no kill shelter. We house about 100 dog/cats at a time. We also house the first low cost spay neuter clinic in Southern Illinois. This service is offered to low income individuals who can't otherwise afford to spay/neuter their dogs or cats. We also have taken in injured animals and provide the medical care they need. Our veterinarian is on staff full time.
Come Meet Our Pets...
Our pets can be visited at St Francis CARE Monday through Friday from 8:00 to 4:30, Saturday from 8:00 to 3:00 and on the last Sunday of each month from 10:00 to 2:00. We also take some of our dogs and puppies to the Carbondale Petco the 1st and 3rd Saturday or each month.
Our Adoption Process...
Our adoption process involves an application and contract. All of our pets are dewormed, fully vaccinated (Distemper, Parvo, Bordetela, Rabies), microchipped, and spayed/neutered. All dogs are heartworm negative and cats are FELV/FIV negative. The adoption fee is $250.00 for puppies and dogs. Although, we do have adult dogs who have been with us for an extended period of time "discounted" to $100.00 not because they are any less valuable but to encourage the public who is generally most interested in puppies to consider an adult or senior. The adoption fee for cats & kittens is $50.00 for 1 or $75.00 for 2.
