All of our dogs are housed in private homes, we do not have a store or a shelter. We do not show dogs to interested parties until they have an approved adoption application. If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, please fill out an adoption application on our website www.helpingshepherdsofeverycolor.com You may also find us on facebook: Helping Shepherds of Every Color Rescue.
Hello, allow me to introduce myself, my name is Champ. I don't know how to tell my rescue friends what my real name was but they call me Champ. You see, I was abandoned in very bad health and I was hiding out for a couple weeks before I let someone catch me. I was very sick and scared. Animal control picked me up and took me to the shelter where some very nice people made friends with me and took care of me. A few days later I was allowed to go with the great folks at this rescue. I weighed over 100 lbs the first time I saw the vet but I was starving and technically underweight. My heart didn't work right and I had those nasty heartworms in me. The nice doctors drew 40 lbs of fluid off my abdomen. I started feeling better and started eating better. I went for short walks every day and started getting my strength back. I am now well enough to be considered for adoption and my heart sounds normal (whatever that means).
I love to eat and I love long walks. I tend to get in trouble for trying to chase the cat or the little dog. I am crate trained but I don't want to be in my crate a lot, especially when the pesky little dog is teasing me.
If you have a comfortable dog bed, good food and like to walk, I am the dog for you. No cats or small pesky dogs allowed in my clubhouse. I like to ride in the car and I am a "people person" , er dog.
I might need to continue taking medicine for my heart, but otherwise all I need is food (I love to eat), lots and lots of love, long walks, a warm place to sleep and regular visits to the vet to make sure I'm ok.
**12/27/2016 Chanp is still heartworm positive and we are consulting with the vet to consider HW treatment at this time.
