Beatrix is a gentle little lady who loves to cuddle on the couch. She is 17 lbs, and approximately 2 years old. We call her a Westiepoo (poodle mixed with a westie). That is just our best guess, however. She was picked up as a stray in Southern California, and no one came to claim her.  After a long journey north, she entered foster care with MWH.

She is a very quiet dog. She is crate trained and potty trained, and she is your happiest car buddy, always ready for a trip. At home, she loves to hang out in her crate with the door open even if people are home. She is rarely "underfoot," but will happily come when called. She occasionally solicits play from the resident dog, so she may enjoy spending time with another dog who will play with her. She does not seem interested in dog toys, or possibly we just haven't found the right ones for her yet.

She is a cautious gal. She happily greets new people who come into the home, but usually with a low head, curved body, lip licking, and a low tail wag. She is very optimistic that everyone she meets will be nice, but you can just tell she is a little bit worried, too. She gets lots of praise and happy talk when meeting new people. She seems to really like that. She has a very gentle nature.

Beatrix walks nicely on leash, and she enjoys her romps around the neighborhood. She gets very excited when she sees squirrels, but it seems more playful than anything. She also enjoys free time in the back yard. And if you're grilling, she will stick around in case you need a cleanup crew. Ever helpful, that's Ms. Bea. Her energy level is moderate. She would love a couple of walks per day and time spent in a yard.

Beatrix would thrive in a quiet home with people who remind her that her world is kind and gentle, and her people are so happy to spend time with her. Having a playful dog in the home would probably help her adjust quickly as well.

I am up to date on all of my vaccinations, spayed, and microchipped. My adoption fee is $250. If you would like to meet me, please email for an application or visit our website mywayhomedogrescue.org to download one!

About My Way Home Dog Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a small group of volunteer foster families located in and around Portland, OR helping one dog at a time. Dogs are housed in homes to assess their behavior and level of training, and to develop their basic social skills. They often have exposure to other pets and people that they would not get in a shelter setting. The stresses of group living in shelters sometimes masks a dog's true personality. We want our dogs to shine and strive to make the best match possible so that the dog you take home is with you forever.

Please note, because we are volunteers housing dogs in our own homes, we are unable to assist with owner surrender situations. We suggest placing flyers at your veterinarian, local pet food stores, working with your local shelters and rescues that are able to assist with owner surrenders.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We work individually with families and dogs, setting up meet and greets by appointment after a phone interview and application review. We are a group of volunteer foster families and do not operate a facility. Our dogs are a part of a family before finding a forever home.

Our Adoption Process...

Once you have found the pet that you are interested in, please email us and we'll be back in touch with you with an application that you may fill out for the dog you are considering. If it seems like a good match, we will do a phone screening to answer any further questions you may have and look at scheduling a meet and greet.

Fees do vary and all adoption fees go directly towards the costs for medical care and general needs of our dogs. We do our best to ensure each dog is appropriately matched with each home, as such, we are not a first come first serve rescue. We strive to answer inquiries within 24 hours, but we are run entirely by volunteers. Please be patient as we work to respond to you quickly.
