My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello there! Thank-you for clicking on my profile, I’d love to meet you. Let me tell you a little bit about adopting me.

My name is Ryan and I am a 2 year old neutered male Poodle who was found as a stray wandering around a dangerous high traffic area when a nice woman saw me and helped me get to safety. Local Animal Control called my foster dad at NBS Animal Rescue to help me as I was severely matted, filthy dirty, covered in fleas, and scared to death! My foster dad came and got me right away and was very very patient and gentle as he helped me get free of my tightly matted painful fur and get rid of those pesky fleas that were biting me.

I am a very shy and nervous fella who needs a calm and patient family to love me. I've made great progress with my foster family in coming out of my shell and learning how to trust people, but with new people and in new situations, I'm still pretty scared and try to hide. Tasty treats, a gentle, reassuring voice, and patience helps me to learn that you won't hurt me. My foster mom thinks that I've probably never been outside before in my whole life - the first time I stepped on grass I had no idea what it was! It felt so funny on my paws! I've quickly come to love being outside with my foster brother and sister as there are so many great things to smell!!

The doggy doctor said I am a healthy boy too! My fur is starting to grow back in nicely, and I'm learning how to do my personal business outside too! I like being around other small, friendly dogs who are more confident than I am so that they can show me the way and not to be scared. My big brother is a Great Dane, and he scares me a bit so I don't think I would like a fur-ever home with a dog quite that big! :-) Because I startle and become nervous easily I do not think that I would be a good fit for a home with kids or a home where there were a lot of people visiting. I would love a nice quiet home with a fenced yard (I'm not so sure of what a leash is yet - mom says I likely never wore a collar before either) with people who are patient, kind, and gentle.

My friends at NBS Animal Rescue are helping me to find the perfect fur-ever home. All of the dogs in our rescue are have different personalities and needs within an adoptive home. Not all of my friends here at NBS Animal Rescue have the same requirements, so if I’m not be the perfect fit for your family- be sure to check out my other doggy friends too! For me?

These are the things I fur-sure need in my fur-ever home!
- Family who is gone no longer than 5 hour periods.
- No children please.
- 100% fenced in yard required.
- Calm and quiet home needed.

If you think I might be the perfect addition to your family please follow these steps:

1.) Visit www.nbsar.org to fill out my adoption application. As an approved adopter, my rescue friends can set up a home visit so I can meet you. Our rescue is 100% run by volunteers, to help your application be processed as quickly as possible, please make sure to….

2.) Call your veterinarian and give them permission to release information about your current and past pet’s veterinary history.

3.) Call your references too! Let them know to expect a phone call from an unknown phone number, and a rescue team member will need to talk to them on the phone as a reference.

My adoption fee is $250.00 and includes a DHPP vaccine, bordatella vaccine, de-worming, spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccine (age appropriate), heartworm test (age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, microchip insertion, bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, leash and collar and one week's worth of food. If you’d like to meet me, please apply online and to become an approved adopter!

Our adoption process requires that any pet in your household be current on vaccinations and heartworm preventative , spayed/neutered (unless a documented medical reason is on file with your veterinarian). Dogs must be current on Distemper DHPP combo vaccine and Rabies vaccine, cats must be current on Distemper and Rabies at the time of application. This also applies to any pets in your home within the past five years.

While I hope that you have fallen in love with me and are ready to apply, I understand if I might not be the perfect pup for your family just yet. However, would you please help by sharing my picture on Facebook, twitter or by email? I'm a great pup and need a loving family to give all of my love and puppy kisses to! Thank-you for your help!
