Lilly's Story...
Lilly is a 2 year old maine coon mix. She came into the shelter very pregnant and sick. She was placed into CARES Foster to Adopt Program but her babies did not survive. She heard another litter crying for their Mom who had died. She begged the foster to let her care for them and the decision was made to place them together. She took care of the babies like they were her own. She had no milk (babies were bottle fed by foster) but she cleaned them, kept them warm and guarded them with her life around the other animals in the foster home. The babies thrived under her care. Now that her babies are independent, Lilly is fine with the other animals in her foster which includes cats and dogs. She is a sweetheart that melts into your arms when held. CARES request that an application be completed before visiting the animal. Please email info@clarkcountycares.com for an application. CARES holds adoption events at PetSmart in Brannon Crossing, Nicholasville, KY on Saturdays...please email us for dates. Lilly is beautiful inside and out...a true lifesaver!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Lilly, a Winchester Maine Coon cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Maine Coon for sale in Winchester, or seeking a Maine Coon cat from a breeder in Winchester.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Winchester already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Winchester breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Maine Coon breeders who help with Maine Coon rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Winchester paves the way for another one to be saved.
