My story

(New pictures coming soon)
Who couldn't fall in love with our sweet Maddie! Her owner had to go into a nursing home, and could no longer care for her. We were asked if we could find a new home for her. Yes! A breed GUESS is
Shih tzu/Yorkie Mix, and believed to be 7 months old. Even at this young age she came to us looking pregnant, but was diagnosed with a false pregnancy. After being medically treated, she has been spayed and ready for her new family!
Being fostered with other dogs and kids, she has proven she gets along with everyone. Cuddling on the couch with you, is one of her favorite things to do. Due to her being in the process of being housebroken, she will need someone home most of the day to continue this training, with consistency. Since someone is always home with the dogs during the day, and she sleeps with her foster mom at night, she has not been crate trained.
If you would like to give this irresistible pup a forever home, please fill out an application!
PLEASE READ OUR ADOPTION PROCESS BELOW BEFORE SENDING IN AN INQUIRY, Thank you!

Thank you for your interest in adopting!

A Journey Home is a 501c3, all foster/volunteer based rescue. Our rescues are living with families in their homes. We do not have a shelter.
If you are interested in adopting, please email ajourneyhomedogrescue@gmail.com to request an application. After your application has been received and given a preliminary approval, you will be contacted by an adoption coordinator who will conduct a phone interview. Final approval will be granted following a successful meet and greet with the entire family.
A Journey Home does not do out-of-state adoptions on unaltered puppies. Spay/neuter surgery is not done on puppies under 6 months of age.
If adopting a puppy under the age of 6 months, we require that the adopter schedules the spay/neuter at our participating vet clinic when age appropriate. If the adopter chooses to use their own vet, A Journey Home will reimburse the adopter $50.
Our standard adoption fee is $300, payable by cash or check. The fee includes spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative, a free vet visit at one of our participating clinics, and micro-chipping.
First time pet owners will be required to sign up for a puppy/training class at a place of their choice. There will be an additional $50 added to your adoption fee, which will be refunded to you upon proof the class was completed.
Please note that breed and size are our best guesses, while ages are estimated by our vets and are not guaranteed.
Must be 21 yrs or older to adopt.

PLEASE consider becoming a foster home, and find out how rewarding it can be! A Journey Home provides basic needs, including medical expenses at our participating clinics located in Wheaton, Naperville, and Geneva. You supply the love! High kill shelters are overcrowded with dogs and puppies that need our help. More fosters on our team means we can save more lives!
