Joann-Sweet loving girl--S's Story...
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Joann found herself in a county shelter in a mess----She was a stray and was thin and not groomed---we were lucky to find out about her and rescued her--she is extremely sweet and loving--LOVES to play with the other dogs and loves people as well--she is approx. one year old and about 14 pounds--we are not sure of her mix--part schnauzer for sure but has some softer fur as well--maybe a little maltese--she has long legs and can run like the wind----loves toys and to snuggle with her foster siblings----she is still somewhat puppyish so will need a little continued training but overall a great little girl with a wonderful temperament---we do want her to have another playful dog in her new home-----older kids would be great--probably not babies or toddlers----If you are looking for an extra sweet girl--Joann may be your baby  !   Contact leeselman@Comcast.net for an application or you can fill out our online application on our Southern Comforts Website----

All of our dogs are spayed/ neutered before adoption. Adult dogs have had their core vaccines---parvo, distemper, bordatella, and rabies, puppies have had a series of four vaccines All dogs are tested and are heartworm negative.  In addition they have been de-wormed and kept on heartworm prevention and flea prevention while in foster care. All  dogs come with a micro-chip already implanted. Adoption fees range from 175.00-235.00 depending on the dog. Many times the adoption fee does not even cover the cost of all of the vetting we have done for a dog.  Our dogs are all fostered in private homes in Texas or New England; We do not have a facility.  WE ARE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR GOOD FOSTER HOMES. YOU MIGHT EVEN WANT TO CONSIDER FOSTERING A DOG YOU ARE INTERESTED IN.  Contact leeselman@comcast for more info on fostering Please contact the person listed in the bio for more information on a particular dog. We are very careful in placing our dogs and look for the best home for each dog.  Thank you for considering a rescued pet and we look forward to helping you find a great dog match.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Joann-Sweet loving girl--S, a Santa Fe Standard Schnauzer/Maltese dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Standard Schnauzer/Maltese for sale in Santa Fe, or seeking a Standard Schnauzer/Maltese dog from a breeder in Santa Fe.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Santa Fe already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Santa Fe breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Standard Schnauzer/Maltese breeders who help with Standard Schnauzer/Maltese rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Santa Fe paves the way for another one to be saved.
