VIOLET AND SNOOPY ARE A BONDED PAIR AND MUST BE ADOPTED TOGETHER. VIOLET'S name is her being -- gently spirited with a delightful sweetness that melts your heart. Violet is a small (about 4 pounds) Dutch mix, with expressive brown eyes, the cutest white mitten toes, and an affectionate personality. Like other Dutch mixes I have known, she has inherited their "good-natured, no drama, nice" gene. Intelligent bunny that she is, Violet knows your lap is the warm, safe spot to curl up on and feel the love; she will sit contentedly with her head on your arm while you both doze off. She agrees with current medical studies that show naps are good for your mental and physical health and encourages you to take a lot together. Violet's placid nature makes her an excellent choice for a first-time house rabbit person who wants to help a shy bunny become all she is capable of becoming. She is not an active bunny and would be happiest in a household where the family is looking for a quiet companion rather than an exuberant playmate. Children in the home should be at least 8 years old and of the reading/chess playing/song singing persuasion. Violet is neat and clean and has excellent litter box habits. It's that Dutch gene again.

BUNNIES ARE MAGIC. If you have always wanted to live with a different companion animal, meet our adoptable rabbits at BUNNY PLAYGROUND: SATURDAYS, 2-4 PM. All Sonoma Humane Society rabbits are COMPANION HOUSE RABBITS and MUST LIVE IN THE HOUSE ONLY and kept safe from dogs. Indoor rabbits live 10-12+ years and require long-term care and commitment: years of love and joy to give and receive.

Our Adoption Process...

The process for adopting an animal may take up to an hour or longer in order to get to know and understand the animal you are bringing into your home for life. The Sonoma Humane Society prides itself on successful adoption rates because of the time we spend with you and your prospective pet upfront. First you must decide what type of animal is "right" for you. Are you more of a dog or a cat person or are you interested in a smaller animal like a rabbit, guinea pig or pocket pet? You must have a clear understanding of yourself, your family and your lifestyle to answer this question correctly. Many people need several visits before they can make the decision to adopt and we encourage you to take all the time you need to make your new relationship permanent.

Adoption Fees

Our animals receive the highest quality of medical care, diets, training and socialization to become a permanent part of your home. Our adoption fees do not cover the expenses for each animal that enters our facility. Thanks to donations from the community, we are able to offer more than any other shelter in the County. Just look at all of the quality care that each and every animal receives here in order to prepare them for a lifelong home with you.
