I was wandering the streets alone and was picked up by a good Samaritan who kept me for a few weeks so they could try to find my ownerÂ…. but no one came for me. I was brought to the Humane Society in hopes of finding my new forever family who would keep me safe and warm.

I would prefer not living with cats since I am an exuberant and high energy girl. Cats just donÂ’t get that I want them to play rough and tough like I like to playÂ…. they get offended easily and I donÂ’t like to back down when they give me a warning.

I know how to sit on command and get so excited to greet new people that I pull hard on the leash to see them. Dog training class would make me more perfect than I already am.

Are you my new family?!?!?

About Our Shelter...

What is it and why do we do it?

We "go the extra mile" to help assure that, when you adopt a pet from HSVB&IRC, you'll be making an informed choice. By matching an animal's personality to yours and your lifestyle, we're more likely to assure that you make the right adoption decision the first time.

We are using a program developed by the ASPCA. It is called "Meet Your Match." Currently, we evaluate dogs and cats before we make them available for adoption.

Also, we ask each prospective adopter to complete an Adopters' Survey which helps identify factors in their lifestyle which might guide their choice of animals. Then, we compare the findings to make a match.

Proudly, we have a very high adoption retention rate — a fact we credit to taking this extra step in the adoption process.
We want you to make a "SAFER" choice, too.
In addition to Meet Your Match, HSVB&IRC has implemented the ASPCA’s Meet Your Match SAFER™ (Safety Assessment For Evaluating & Rehoming) program - a tool for assessing the probability of future canine aggression. Ask us for more details.
