If you are looking for a dog who absolutely loves to play with other dogs, Sam could be your man. Sam is a 1-2 year old, 45-pound Duck Tolling Retriever mix who is working hard to overcome the bad hand life has dealt him so far of being a stray dog looking for love & acceptance, but being denied that until coming into rescue. Sam is GREAT with dogs and plays like a puppy enjoying every moment of romping with them, but he struggles trusting people. Sam has no aggression whatsoever that we have seen, he is just fearful and is unsure who he can trust or what is expected of him. He has made good progress at his foster home and we are hopeful that with patience and love, he will see how good life can be as part of a family. He LOVES water and can frequently be found playing in the doggy pool. If your dog needs a play buddy and you want a bit of a project, Sam will add quality to your pet’s life and you will see how rewarding rehabilitating a dog can be. We will require a fenced-in yard for Sam's new home.

Sam was rescued from a high intake rural outdoor shelter in Southeastern Missouri where he was on death row. There is no adoption program there, his only way out was to be rescued. Dolly's Legacy is honored to have saved his life and have promised him a happy home.

Sam is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventative, dewormed and tested negative for heartworm disease. Adoption fee is $200. The FIRST step is to have you complete our online adoption application. All adoption appointments are scheduled AFTER your application has been approved.
