My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Violet is an incredibly cute ball of cottony fur that climbs into your heart (and lap) with a wag. Once she gets a sudsy bath and grooming, she'll absolutely be one of the cutest girls around. At 9 - 12 months old and 9 lbs, Violet is every bit the puppy-like kind of girl...fun and active....but at the same time she is a well-behaved pup who loves being a lap dog and (once comfortable) is very engaging and loyal.

So sweet and cuddly (and initially a bit shy), Violet was facing the end of her life just as it was beginning. ...and was rescued just in the nick of time. This sweet and engaging Cairn Terrier/Border Terrier mix is an up and coming breed mix that's loved for it's cuteness, cuddly size, amazing intelligence and very engaging personalities. Violet is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of her temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life.

At this early point in Violet's development, she's open and excited about all possibilities. We want to nurture this positive vision of the world by matching Vi to a family who expresses their devotion for her in many different ways. We'd like this little dog to attend positive reinforcement group obedience classes to teach her the skills to be the very best adult dog she's capable of being. Right now, Violet is a blank slate who will soak up positive feedback with every effort to be the best behaved dog around. Violet loves to be loved and will return this devotion a thousand times over.

We'd like Violet to be part of a family with very gentle, dog-loving children or with active retirees who will include her in their activities. Violet is so portable that she can easily be a constant companion - she would love nothing more than walks with socializing, trips to the store (she's a great window-shopping friend) or even a place at a pet-friendly workplace. Violet is young and flexible enough that she can be introduced to virtually any situation...and if there is love and gentle guidance...she can succeed.

Violet is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's bright and so loving (loves to cuddle in your lap or spend the night snuggling close in bed) clearly has no memory of her scary early life. Since Violet is such a young girl, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome companion. Violet will form firm bonds with her family and learn positive socialization skills through exposure to many different situations out in the world. These include puppy kindergarten and positive reinforcement group obedience classes (Farfel's is happy to provide a list of positive reinforcement trainers in your area). It does take a bit of time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the outside world with appropriate behavior.

We've requested that Violet be fixed prior to her transport to Colorado. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to too many dogs and not enough vets in this industrial area of Texas. If it does not, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Violet's spay and microchip if our Denver vet is used.

Violet is a non-shedding or lightly shedding girl...it's still a bit difficult to tell until until her sad shelter coat grows out. She will require a commitment to periodic baths, brushing and great nutrition to keep her hair shining, very healthy and matt-free.

Violet will be arriving on transport on Saturday 6/24/17 . If interested in this adorable and sweet...and often very entertaining/silly best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
