My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there! My name is Oliver and I am a friendly lemon and white beagle that needs to find a new home. I was found as a stray and taken to a shelter in South Carolina. I don’t know how long I was ‘on the run’ before the shelter became my temporary home. I am approx. 4-6 years old (though the shelter workers thought I was older) and weigh close to 25 lbs. After Penny Angels agreed to rescue me, I spent some time in a foster home before making my way up to NJ on June 17. My foster mom said that I was full of fleas and depressed when I first arrived at her house. After a few days, my true personality started to emerge; I became a very gentle boy that was full of life!

In my foster home I was around bigger kids and smaller dogs and got along well with all of them. I wagged my tail often and loved being with people! I liked spending time outside, too, so that I could explore my surroundings. My foster mom enjoyed my time with her and said that I would be a wonderful furbaby for someone!

When I arrived at Petsmart on Saturday, I was a little shy when first approached by people and initially had a lot of energy, probably from being crated during my transport. One of the volunteers said that I seemed ‘lost’, like I was trying to figure out what was happening to me. When you think about it, I have had an eventful & disorienting few weeks: stray, shelter, foster home, transport, and then PABR! I eventually wore myself out and finally fell asleep on the floor at Petsmart; my ‘sleeping’ photo is the end result of my exhausting travels! As you can see, I found the coziest doggie beds and plopped right down on them!

In Rescue, I am doing pretty well. I am friendly with the other beagles and am learning to use the doggie door. I do have some energy, even though the shelter workers down South described me as a ‘couch potato’. Now that I have a purpose in my life… finding my forever home… it is easier for me to WANT to be more active!

I will be at Petsmart again on Saturday from 11- 3 pm. if you want to meet me. If you are interested in making me a furry member of your family, please fill out an application and submit it to Penny Angels today.
