My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

From Sammy’s foster mommy:

Sammy is an approximately 8 year old, 37 pound male beagle that was found as a stray and ended up in a shelter. We think he may have been an outside dog most of his life.
Sammy is so very sweet and very laid back. I would call him a couch potato although he doesn’t get on the couch or our bed even though he is allowed. He is fascinated with everything inside and it’s fun to watch him discover new things. He saw his reflection in the fire place door and stared for quite a while. He looks at the TV with much curiosity.
Sammy is doing great on house training and has not had an accident in a couple weeks. We have a doggie door so he follows the other dogs out to potty. Most days when I come home from work I find him lying out back under our shade tree. He loves to watch the world go by. I suspect he was on achain or kenneled as when we first got him he ran and ran and ran in our backyard like he’d never been able to do that before.
He loves all the other dogs in the house and since we dog sit, he’s been around all sizes… both large and small. He’s very friendly to all people. He loves to take short walks but I can tell he’s never had a walk before. He’s not sure of the leash but we are getting there and he does better each day.
I started crating him at night by my bed when I first got him but now he goes in on his own and I leave the door open. I leave him out while at work and have never had any problems with him getting into anything.
He loves to be petted and follows me around but he adores my husband. Just yesterday he got on the couch for the very first time only so he could be next to him… It was just adorable. Although we do hear him bark occasionally it’s not very often. When I take him for a ride I put him in the back of my SUV in a crate and he just lies down and looks around.
Sammy is an all-around happy boy that gets along with other dogs, loves people, is very sweet, laid back and deserves a home with lots of love. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).
