Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Cross Post
Dr H and the EGAH crew
Meet Elliott: before and after! In honor of prom season, he's wearing his bow tie. He came to us covered in bite wounds, malnourished, with quite a few broken teeth, and hematomas on his ears. He won't tell us exactly what happened, but it's safe to assume he's endured a pretty tough past. His wounds have healed now, and he is ready to find his person! He may have quite a few permanent scars on his face and ears, but we think he is absolutely handsome! Elliott loves people, and has been friendly with everyone he meets. He is a good listener; he can sit and give paw on command and is getting the hang of lying down. He is doing well with his housebreaking since he has been neutered. He is very food motivated, so training should go well. Elliott is about 3 years old and weighs around 45 lbs.
Due to his unknown history and unexplained wounds we were a bit concerned about how he would be with other dogs, so we had a trainer evaluate him. He was very social and interested in the other dogs and did great! He tends to be a little forward and pushy with other dogs at first, which some dogs might not tolerate well. For this reason, we'd like him to be placed with an experienced pet owner who is used to strong dogs and willing to work on his manners. Please keep in mind that Elliott has a lot of energy due to being cooped up in a cage. He may seem a bit much when he first comes out, but after a walk or some play time, he calms down pretty well. He definitely knows how to be a couch potato! Although he seems to do well with other dogs, he seems to really want to chase cats, so we think he would do best in a home without cats.
The adoption fee for Elliott is $150 and includes his one year vaccines (rabies, distemper/parvovirus, and bordetella), neuter, microchip, deworming, fecal screening for parasites, and heartworm testing. He has tested negative for heartworm and has been treated for any intestinal parasites that were found. If you have any questions about this sweet boy or would like to come meet him, please call Elmwood-Grove Animal Hospital at 708-456-6700. We're caring for patients all day and cannot respond to email inquiries quickly, so please call instead for the most up to date information! We thank you for any and all shares!!! :)
