ADOPTION PENDING

Forever Friends Great Dane Rescue is looking for a furever family for this amazing Dane!

UPDATE 8/13/17...
Athena is now off all medicine. She is struggling with her weight loss. She really needs that special home that will walk her daily. Her foster mom tries but with her schedule it is hard to get out every day. The vet recently checked her blood work to check for a thyroid issue. Her blood work is perfect. No issues were found.
Athena is also living with 4 Danes. She can be rough with her play but is learning everyday how to play nice. Athena loves to play with a rope toy. She chases it down the hall and plays keep away with her foster mom. When she is hungry she puts her big head in her foster mom's lap and begs. She will stand next to the door when she needs to potty.
Are you that special home that will help this sweet, funny girl loose weight and become the family member she deserves?

Athena is a Dane/Lab mix that came into rescue as an owner-surrender. She is overweight but doing well with her weight loss program. It really isn't much. Just walking with her foster mom on short walks. She is living with 3 other Danes but would prefer to be the only dog. She is very vocal in her play and can get rough at times. She loves to be the center of attention. She has grumbled over her food and special toys but corrects well with a stern "no".

She is completely house trained, trusted loose in the house for long periods, and very good on a leash. She will pull if she is enticed by a barking dog chasing the fence (neighbors dog) but responds to 'leave it' and 'no'. She does chase cats. I would suggest no cats.

She does need help getting into a car but loves car rides, I think she will jump right in once she slims up a bit. Athena gets very excited over people food. She can be a little pushy but nothing some training wouldn't fix. She does drool when nervous or people food is around. She loves to be scratched behind the ears, and will paw at your feet to get you to rub on her. I think she will make someone very happy!
