Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Shari - Shepherd/hound - young (1 year of age) - female/spayed - black and red medium plush coat - 50 pounds
This dear girl is Shari, whose openness and trust have impressed us all. In fact, when asked what qualities of Shari’s touched her the most, her foster caregiver responded, “Honestly, I’m touched by how easy she is to care for. Her adaptability.” Barely one year old, Shari has developed a trusting nature that expects only good from the world, and enables her to make friends easily. Her expectancy of good also has blessed Shari with the security and confidence to BE adaptable, as well as the capacity to welcome new experiences.
Shari will be a joy to train. She is already house trained and crate trained, and understands the cues “sit” and “shake”. She is comfortable on a leash. Delighted by any form of affection, Shari is not a “needy” dog - and she will be a willing and intelligent partner for her human(s). Her adopter(s) and Shari will benefit from continued positive, force free training; her innate trust and goodness, if positively and loving directed, could take her as far as her adopter(s) wish to go in terms of teaching and learning.
Shari loves attention and petting - and wiggles in delight when she receives any form of touch. The deep, rich colors of her coat contrast strikingly, and her beautiful face has a lovely “widow’s peak” on her forehead. Her fur is soft and plush.
Shari is long-bodied with sturdy legs. Her energy level is appropriate for a one year old dog - she is energetic but not remotely nervous, and she is always ready for the next great adventure. Her enthusiasm for riding in the car seems to have tipped into a desire to help drive the car, so while her adopter(s) can expect her to load up happily, she needs to be either crated or safely seat belted in place.
Outside the house, as well as in, Shari greets new people, children, other dogs, and even cats - warmly and comfortably.
Shari is a lovely and responsive dog. Even in moments of mischief, there is a warmth, a merriment, and a twinkle in her shining brown eyes that are very endearing, as if to say “I am an adventurer, a free spirit, and a great explorer ….as long as I am never too far away from you.”
We are requiring a securely fenced yard for Shari.
