Belle's Story...
Hi there my name is Belle, and that is exactly what I am-a polite little southern belle. I'm a super gentle dog who loves to get belly rubs and pets from my foster mom and dad. Speaking of foster homes, I also share mine with an adorable lab named Rosemary, and we are best friends. I'm also good friends with the kitten that lives in my foster home as well. We play in the yard together, go for walks, and even head to Shelby Farms on the weekends. One of my favorite things to do there is swimming! I ride great in the car and my leash skills are pretty awesome as well. Although I do like the outdoors, I'm a very chill dog and would be perfectly content spending the weekends on the couch or lounging in the backyard. I have wonderful manners so you won't have to worry about me jumping up on you or being super loud. I also spend time in my crate while my foster parents go to work and I'm a quiet little mouse when I go in except for my occasional snoring. If you are looking for a small sized dog who has no issues curling up in the smallest ball to fit on your lap, look no further. It's me Belle, that you have been looking for.

All of our pets start their journey in Memphis Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted.

In order to qualify for ALIVE’s program all of the following steps must be met: • You must be at least 24 years of age and be able to provide ALIVE with proof of age. • Any current pets must be up to date on vaccinations, and be spayed/neutered. Exceptions to this will only be considered if proof of a medical explanation is provided. • If you currently rent, you must provide a landlord’s phone number and a copy of your executed lease. • All members of the family living in the home where the animal will be placed must be interviewed. • Allow an ALIVE Rescue Memphis representative into your home for a visit to insure that your home is safe for the potential new dog or cat. • Be able and willing to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment and proper care for a pet. • Currently, the requested donation to adopt a dog over 4 months of age is $250.00, a dog under 4 months of age is $275.00 and a cat is $150.00. •

Our adoption application can be found at

Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you submit an application immediately to start the adoption process. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, ALIVE Rescue Memphis is operated 100% by volunteers. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding.

Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well educated decision from well qualified staff.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Belle, a Memphis Labrador Retriever/Beagle dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/Beagle for sale in Memphis, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/Beagle dog from a breeder in Memphis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Memphis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Memphis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/Beagle breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/Beagle rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Memphis paves the way for another one to be saved.
