It has been a turbulent road for Sullie and her babies, Rum Tum Tugger, Grizzabella & Breezy. Pregnant and alone, Sullie was trying her hardest to be rescued after being abandoned on the mean streets of Brooklyn. She approached stranger after stranger, begging for a meal, and a safe place to bring her babies into the world. She was ready to give everything in return, but the neighborhood was not responding to the pleas of this friendly cat who was willing to purr and rub herself against every new person she met. Fortunately for Sullie, Empty Cages was alerted of the situation, and as serendipity would have it, almost immediately one of our foster homes opened up. Purring and making biscuits the whole time, as the knowledge of her safety sunk in, Sullie was seen by our vet and taken to her foster home. Just two days in, this young momma gave birth to four beautiful kittens.
Being almost a young kitten herself, Sullie seemed a bit lost in her newly acquired motherly role, as she was much more interested in getting all the human attention, and showing us love every chance she got, so our volunteers had to take over some of her motherly duties with bottle feedings, providing heat, and stimulating the babies to use the bathroom. Now, almost 2 months since the rescue this purrrfect little family is starting a search for a family of their own. They are all very trusting, affectionate, and true lap cats. The babies are so used to human touch, having been handled since Day 1, that they literally melt in our arms. Seriously! Every single muscle gets relaxed, and you are left with an adorable, purring, fur splat in your arms. It is utterly impossible not to kiss the little munchkins all over! Ideally, we are looking to place 2 kittens (Breezy & Rum Tum Tugger) in one home, and Sullie and another kitten (Grizzabella) in another home. This family has been very close, loving and caring to each other, that is seems a shame to separate in any other number combination than two pairs.
Sullie is estimated to be less than a year old, and was found to be in perfect health by our veterinarian. She is up to date with her vaccines, dewormed, and tested negative to FIV and FeLV. She will be fixed prior to adoption. Rum Tum Tugger, Grizzabella & Breezy were born on May 1st, and are around 2 months old now. They have been dewormed, tested negative for FIV and FeLV. They will be vaccinated, and fixed prior to adoption.
