If Biscuit really were a biscuit she'd be a lemon scone - sweet with a little zing. Like many young ladies she loves to be held and cuddled and stroked. But only on the fourth date. Let Biscuit get to know you; you know, buy her cocktails and dinner and throw in some flowers and then you'll have yourself a devoted friend. She expects a little wooing before she gives you her heart. She's old fashioned that way. Go too fast with her and you just might taste her tartness. But once she decides you're the one, she will adore you!

Because Biscuit can be snippy with anyone not of her inner circle, she should live in an adults only home and visitors should be advised to let her make the approach. No big spender moves for this discerning girl. Better yet, let her feel safe in her crate when you are entertaining guests. Then, if the spirit moves, she can come out to say hello. Don't forget the cocktails and flowers.

Biscuit is not a fan of routine handling for things like vet exams or nail trims. She can be quite dramatic in expressing her disapproval. (She dreams of winning an Oscar.) You will want to advise your vet and her staff. They'll know how to woo Biscuit and keep the drama to a minimum.

One way to start building your bond with Biscuit is to take her to training classes. Start with Small Dog 1, and then try Tricks or Nose Works. She's quite treat motivated which will make training easy and fun. Once this little Chihuahua feels safe with you, she will love you forever...and that's a sweet story.
