My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Miss Lois is also known as the “Duchess of the Couch”. It is hard work monitoring the activities of the household & squirrel patrol in the neighborhood during walks – one must take many rest breaks. We are getting to see the true personality of Miss Lois and what a sweetheart she is. She is house trained with no accidents. She loves to explore in the yard and use her excellent hound nose to search out any new scents which may get the best of her so she will need a 6 ft fence to keep her safe. She has not been kenneled in foster home and has been very respectful of the house. The current foster home has another foster dog (Joey), and two adult cats which Miss Lois pretty much ignores, unless they get too close during feeding times and she warns them with a loud bark to back off. Check out Lois playing with her foster brother, Joey, also looking for a forever home: https://www.youtube.com/watch?edit=vd&v=3_rUs95Mefc
Lois walks well on a leash but you need to hold on tight because if she sees a rabbit her tracking skills/senses take over and she is off to the races. She gives many puppy kisses and when given belly rubs she sighs a deep and contented sigh. The current foster home is close to an elementary school with kids playing there during the day. When Miss Lois sees the kids, her butt starts to wiggle and the tail gets to going. As she has been introduced to kids she gets to wiggling so strong that we are still using the leash to help so that no little ones get knocked over in her excitement to love on them. The only “quirk” of Miss Lois is that she is a counter-surfer. Given the opportunity to snitch a morsel of food (or a chicken breast) off of the kitchen island, she will take it. She will require a home with a 6-ft fenced in yard as she has springs for legs and will otherwise be cruising the neighborhood looking for new friends. Lois will be a lovely addition to any family but hopefully one with older kids who will be able to play and love on her.

Lois was rescued from a high intake rural outdoor shelter in Southeastern Missouri where she was an unclaimed stray & found herself on death row due to overcrowding. There is no adoption program there, her only way out was to be rescued. Lois was provided life-saving treatment for heartworm disease. She will need to remain on heartworm preventative for life, as is recommended for ALL dogs, and retested in 6 months to ensure she is heartworm free. She had a cyst (non-cancerous) removed from her forehead & was also given a dental with tooth polishing for nice pearly whites. Dolly's Legacy is honored to have saved her life and have promised her a happy home.

Lois is a Redbone Coonhound, weighs 45 lbs and is an estimated 3-5 yrs old. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventative and dewormed. Adoption fee is $250.
