found a new home!
Plenty of my friends are looking
for one too. Find a pet to adopt.
I am already neutered, housetrained, and up to date with shots.
FLASH is a 5 month old, mostly black pup with white feet and floppy ears that sometimes stand up (cute has heck!). His personality and smarts convinces us he has a lot of BC in him. And does this boy love to play! FLASH is a puppy, but he comes without all the obnoxious puppy things, such as a tiny bladder and extra sharp teeth! He is able to hold his potty for a good 4 hours in his crate and we trust him to be out and about with us during the day without having to constantly monitor and worry about accidents indoors. When we take him out to potty he goes right away, so you know he’s making a conscious effort to hold it until he’s outside. Even though he’s young, his self control and attention span are amazing. We can get his attention and call him off with a simple “ah-ah”. He’s happy to leave whatever he’s investigating. He is also pretty respectful to older dogs if they tell him off, but he loves making friends with everyone he meets, in true puppy fashion.
We also know FLASH is definitely a border collie because he likes to herd other dogs. He loves to wrestle and chase with like-minded companions. When he chases, he tends to run just to the outside of his playmate, and he will sometimes nip at their heels, or even tackle them to the ground. We have reminded him to be gentle and he really seems to understand to tone it down. It’s surprised us how amenable he is because he’s so young and how well he is able to control himself and play more gently. When he is too excited, giving him a short time-out works wonders, and he figures out that playtime simply ends if he’s being too rough.
FLASH is so smart. He learned to sit and shake in just two training sessions of about 2 minutes each. Because he’s young, he sometimes jumps when he gets excited, but it’s more of a reaching up with his feet to hug you type and not the almost knocking you over variety of jumping up. His “sit” is fairly snappy (he even has a hand signal for it) and he’ll even sit if we just reach for the treats. You can really tell he’s trying to figure out what you’re asking for. His recall is pretty good, though being such a young guy some patience is needed on your part. This boy will try so hard for you. He will thrive with consistent, firm, and fair handling. He also walks well on leash with a halter.
FLASH loves toys, especially squeaky ones. He will even fetch it right to you and we didn’t even have to teach him that! His favorite things are playing, and spending time with people. He loves full body rubs, especially when he hears that he’s a “good boy!”, and will lean into you and maybe fall onto the floor for belly rubs. He is so sweet and just seems to know what not to do (such as chew, dig, or mouth excessively). He crates wonderfully at night and will even run right in during the day. He can go in without treats at this point, but we try to either toss one in first, or give him one after he hops in. All in all, FLASH is the perfect puppy. He’s ready to learn everything that you want to teach him. He loves his people, and simply wants to be part of a family.
FLASH is micro-chipped, neutered, heart worm negative and on preventative, and up to date on vaccinations.
