My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Henry is an adorable Chihuahua/terrier mix who is approximately 10 months old and weighs 15 pounds. This stunningly beautiful boy found himself in the noisy shelter where he was terrified by all the loud sounds. When Henry came to his loving foster home it was obvious that he had never been inside a house before but he has begun to adapt to the life of a beloved indoor pet. Henry still startles easily when he hears unexpected or loud noises. At times he still hesitates toapproach people but with patience and quiet coaxing he begins to show his friendly nature. Henry would do best in a quiet household. He enjoys exploring thebackyard and resting on the deck. He is learning to walk on a leash and is progressing well. He rides well in the car. He sleeps quietly in his crate each night and also stays there when no one is home. He follows his foster mom around the house and settles down nearby as she moves from room to room. He enjoys cuddling for a while and then may hop down to nap nearby.
Henry has made great strides in the time he has been with his foster family. At first he was afraid to go up or down the stairs – now he takes the stairs like a pro! Before, Henry had never seen a toy. Now he happily chews on cow hooves and antlers and carries his favorite toy around in his mouth. He seems calm for such a young dog but his personality is still unfolding and he may become more active and puppy-like as he continues to come out of his shell. Although he generally gets along well with other dogs, he has shown signs of being possessive about toys and his foster mom is working with him on that. His forever family will need to be patient with him as he continues to gradually become more comfortable in the world but they will find it so rewarding to watch this precious little pup blossom into a confident young dog.
Henry is being fostered in Huntsville, AL but is available for adoption in your area. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and current on heartworm and flea prevention. To fill out an application for this wonderful boy, go to http://forrescue.net/dog-application.
