My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

One year old Roscoe is both a darling and a ham! Just an absolute love who is good with older kids, dogs, and cats. But because of his energy level and need for Obedience, no children under 12. Rosco also needs socialization as he has been reactive in certain situations like meeting a new person wearing sun glasses and a hat and startles easily at anything unexpected like a bike. Most of the time he will run over to people for a belly rub, but there have been instances of fear-based behaviors of jumping up and barking/lunging. The barking and lunging is more of a defense mechanism when he feels overwhelmed, threatened, or protective. We don't believe it's to bite, but to warn off. He needs an adopter familiar with the breed who understands why he reacts the way he does and is able to positively reinforce other outlets. We wouldn't want to see him with someone who was afraid of his outbursts and accidentally reinforces those as appropriate. At those times, a slow, positive intro that lets his confidence build works to stop his reaction. While his house manners are fantastic Roscoe's leash manners need some work. He's a puller, he tries to jump to say hello when passing another person/dog. He also requires a good bit of exercise given his age. He is no couch potato! Roscoe still has 'puppy brains' and the energy that comes with this age! Rosco is a work in progress! Contact for an application is Beth at kaya1227@comcast.net
