My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A little bird told me that you love me And I believe that you do This little bird told me I was fallin' Fallin' for no one but you. The little bird told me we'd be happy And I believe that it's true. - from 'A Little Birdie Told Me' by Lee Wiley
A little birdie told us that we have a beautiful girl looking for her forever happiness. Our Birdie is a stunning 3 year old Australian Shepherd mix weighing around 40 lbs. This gorgeous gal's good looks are all natural but we know a lot of ladies who would pay dearly for her silky dark locks with reddish highlights. Sadly Birdie did not come to us in greatest of shape and her previous 3 years have been nothing short of a nightmare. Birdie's previous owners left her chained up in their backyard 24/7 regardless of the elements. Sadly the one time she gained a bit of freedom she was hit by a car and ended up with broken legs. Medical care was never sought and her legs never set so they healed a bit awkwardly but you would never know if not for her bit of a limp. Birdie has in no way let her horrible past keep her from being a wonderful happy pooch. Her story took a weird and wonderful turn for the best when she was surrendered to a high kill southern shelter. She was then pulled into rescue and placed in a loving foster home. Birdie's house manners are excellent! Despite never having been inside a house, she has never once had an accident in her foster home. She is well behaved and respectful of her surroundings. This beautiful lass does well with the cat in her foster home. She sees herself as the alpha female and does best with submissive dogs already in the home. Her foster mom says she does not care for new dogs brought into the home. She has a very loving personality towards her people and will happily snuggle up at every opportunity. She is now accustomed to sleeping with her foster parents and apparently she stays in one spot throughout the night. Birdie has a way of giving kisses by way of bumping her snout to her human. She can be a bit mouthy in her affections and while she doesn't hurt anyone, not everyone may understand what she is doing so foster mom has been working with her on this. We think the best fit for Birdie would be more mature parents or a home with older children. It would be best if she goes to a home not looking to make any further doggy additions to the family. Birdie is already spayed, up to date on all vaccinations, current on preventatives, and micro chipped. While our sweet affectionate girl may have a few little quirks we have no doubt in the right forever home you'll be fallin' for Birdie. Oh and a little birdie told us you'll be happy together forever!
