Facts about Luka

  • Breed: Jindo Mix
  • Color: Brown/Chocolate - With Tan
  • Age: Young
  • Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
  • Sex: Male
Luka is an extremely lucky boy. He was born in a horrrible dog farm in Ilsan, Korea early January this year. In February he and several friends of his were rescued by a Korean activist, Jinok. Luka and his friends were very sick so the butchers thought they were going to die anyway. With DoVE's financial support Jinok took them to a vet hospital. They were all stricken with Parvo, distemper plus other ailments. Despite the best vet care, most did not make it. Luka had distemper and he was a touch and go. After almost two weeks at the hospital, Luka beat the illness and was discharged. He suffered no brain damage. He is active, playful, smart and loving. He walks, runs, jumps and act as normal as any other healthy dog. When he is at rest, however, he has a bit of tremor in one of his legs. The tremor is caused by nerve damage due to distemper. The tremor is very mild and is not noticeable when he is active. It also does not seem to interfere with his physical activities. He has received acupuncture treatments and his condition has improved. Luka is a wonderful boy and he will be sure to make the most loyal and loving companion to a very lucky person/family.

About DoVE Project

About Our Rescue Group...

DoVE Project (Dogs of Violence Exposed) is a 501(c)3 animal welfare, rights and protection organization. As our name is clearly stated, our aim is to end the Dog Meat Trade in S. Korea and other parts of the world where the dogs are slaughtered for human consumption. The condition in which these dogs are raised, bred and slaughtered is extremely brutal and inhumane. We rescue these dogs from dog farms, slaughterhouses, or dogs destined to be slaughtered to be eaten. Many female dogs that are rescued from the farms/slaughter houses are pregnant and when we rescue those pregnant dogs, sometimes their puppies are brought to USA for adoption. Part of our campaign to end the DMT in Korea is rescue work.
