My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name it Kit, and I’m an adoptable lady with NBS Animal Rescue. Don’t be fooled by my little body, I have a big heart and don’t mind voicing my opinions to. I’m timid with people, but I’m not afraid to boss other dogs, little, or 10 times my size. I’m definitely a mutt, but I’m told I have the heart and face of a doxie, but I have long legs (I can jump into your arms!!) like a Chihuahua or Whippet. I’m guessed to be around 3-4 years old, and am very dainty at 6lbs.

My favorite thing in the world is to be close to my humans. I’m pretty dainty, so I fit under the covers, on your lap – or even on your shoulder sometimes! It sure is nice to snuggle on clean blankets. You see, my life wasn’t always easy – I had to fend for myself sometimes, so I get pretty nervous around new dogs, but I'm doing well with the other dogs and the cat in my foster home once I got used to them. Sometimes I still bark at other dogs (but not so much humans). Although even if I bark at them, that doesn’t stop me from snuggling with them at night. I’m a goofball like that. I would do best in a home without kids – I’ve never been mean to one, but a lot of commotion really scares me, so I would do best with kids 10 and up. I’m doing much better with my potty training, and love getting encouragement for being a good girl. Leashes are still pretty new to me, but I’ll walk with you if you’ve got treats. Although, I have to admit, I love to be carried around. I feel like I was meant to be a princess, but never had anyone to spoil me. My friends at NBS told me that they would help me find a home where I’d never have to scavenge for food, and I can be loved for the sassy and sweet girl I am. Could that be with you?

My friends at NBS Animal Rescue are helping me to find the perfect fur-ever home. All of the dogs in our rescue are have different personalities and needs within an adoptive home. Not all of my friends here at NBS Animal Rescue have the same requirements, so if I’m not be the perfect fit for your family- be sure to check out my other doggy friends too! For me?

These are the things I fur-sure need in my fur-ever home!
- Family who is gone no longer than 5 hour periods.
-Children must be 10yrs or older
- 100% fenced in yard.

If you think I might be the perfect addition to your family please follow these steps:

1.) Visit www.nbsar.org to fill out my adoption application. As an approved adopter, my rescue friends can set up a home visit so I can meet you. Our rescue is 100% run by volunteers, to help your application be processed as quickly as possible, please make sure to….

2.) Call your veterinarian and give them permission to release information about your current and past pet’s veterinary history.

3.) Call your references too! Let them know to expect a phone call from an unknown phone number, and a rescue team member will need to talk to them on the phone as a reference.

My adoption fee is $250.00 and includes a DHPP vaccine, bordatella vaccine, de-worming, spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccine (age appropriate), heartworm test (age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, microchip insertion, bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, leash and collar and one week's worth of food. If you’d like to meet me, please apply online and to become an approved adopter!

Our adoption process requires that any pet in your household be current on vaccinations and heartworm preventative , spayed/neutered (unless a documented medical reason is on file with your veterinarian). Dogs must be current on Distemper DHPP combo vaccine and Rabies vaccine, cats must be current on Distemper and Rabies at the time of application. This also applies to any pets in your home within the past five years.

While I hope that you have fallen in love with me and are ready to apply, I understand if I might not be the perfect pup for your family just yet. However, would you please help by sharing my picture on Facebook, twitter or by email? I'm a great pup and need a loving family to give all of my love and puppy kisses to! Thank-you for your help!
