My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I know this love is gonna stay 'cause in the deepest part of my heart of hearts I know that we will always be this way
I know you were made for me Nothing can ever change, it's meant to be Just like the moon was made for a lonely night
You are my light Forever in this light - from 'You Were Made For Me' by Irene Cara
Our beautiful sweet Carra is looking for her forever and always love. This gorgeous girl has overcome some pretty big bumps in her life but her personality just pushes her forward looking to the great things in life. Carra is a 5 year old black lab mix weighing in at a now healthy 60 lbs. She ended up at a high kill southern shelter where she remained for several month despite her calm demeanor. Thankfully a wonderful rescue just couldn't let her stay there a minute more and she was placed in a big busy loving foster home where she has thrived and enjoyed life. She is great with other dogs, in fact she was relied upon to help new fosters get used to other dogs. She is great with the kids in her foster home and she loves everyone she meets. She recently met some kitty friends and did really well. She tried to make friends with the older cat and sweetly laid down in front of a tiny kitten so as not to frighten it. We don't, however, know how she will react to outdoor cats but we suspect she'll do well with some initial supervision. Carra is house trained and has very good house manners. She is also crate trained and perceived her crate (door open) as a safe place to go until she adjusted to her new surroundings. She's not a big player of toys rather she is much more content just hanging around with her people or in the company of other dogs. About the only time she gets really excited is when it's time to go for a walk. Obviously she LOVES going on walks and she does it really well. At 5 years old she is way over all the puppy energy and antics and would be a great addition to a somewhat active family but not quite couch potato. She is the kind of gal who would love to sleep on the bed with someone but she takes it like a lady if she can't. Carra has the ability to stay close to her people without being a tripping hazard. She will happily nap by your side for hours ever the faithful companion. Our adorable girl came into rescue with heartworms as more evidence to her past neglect. She has since undergone heartworm treatment and completed her rehab with flying colors. Carra is already spayed, up to date on all vaccinations, current on preventatives, and micro chipped. The only thing this lovely young lady needs is a love that's gonna stay. If you know that in your heart of hearts that you were made for Carra then she would love nothing more than to be your moon on a lonely night...your light forever.
