Duke's Story...
Duke is my name and food is my game....errr was my game. I am a handsome 5 year old black hunk of love. I am a whopping 132 lbs. right now so please know I am working on getting into my speedo. The doggie doctor said I would be healthier at about 90 lbs. So if you fall in love with me, and you will, then you have to be committed to getting me down to a healthy weight. I am a gentle giant. I was an owner turn in but I am not taking it personal as that family did me a favor. I know DLRR will take great care of me until my forever home is found. So far they have paid to get me up to date on shots, gave me a chip in case I wonder off to the nearest donut shop. DLRR also made sure I will not make any puppies. While I was at the doggie doctor they ran some blood work and found that I have Tick Fever. Fear not, you can't catch it and I will be fine. I have to take some pills for a few weeks then as long at it clears up, I am good to go. Suffice it to say, after I get better, please make sure you keep me on a flea and tick medication to I don't have to deal with this again. Tick fever ticks me off. Lastly I love to throw myself on the ground for belly rubs. I really love belly rubs.

If you are interested in this dog, please fill out an application at www.DLRRphoenix.org. Someone will call to schedule a home visit so you can become an approved adopter. Also, visit our wonderful Facebook page at www.facebook/desertlab. Thanks!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Duke, a Phoenix Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Phoenix, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Phoenix.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Phoenix already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Phoenix breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Phoenix paves the way for another one to be saved.
