Joy was left at a west Georgia animal control. This tri-colored girl is around 5 years old. She has finished treatment for heartworm and is now healthy. Joy is a petite basset who is very sweet and loves people. She follows her foster mom and dad around. She gets along well with the other hounds in the house. She has learned the dog door and is mostly potty trained using it. She loves to eat and can be a little too enthusiastic when receiving a treat, but we are working on that. She has not been around any small children or cats in her foster home, but her foster mom says she would be hesitant in placing her in a home with small children since she does have a tendency to get your fingers when you are giving her a treat.

About Basset Hound Rescue of Georgia

About Our Rescue Group...

Basset Hound Rescue of Georgia is a non-profit, volunteer effort to save abandonded and mistreated Basset Hounds. Our rescue effort began in 1991, and we have rescued over 2,500 Bassets since that time. Orginally privately funded by two volunteers, today BHRG is a non-profit charitable organization which exists solely on donations.

Orphaned Bassets are held in foster care until permanent, loving homes can be found.

Adoptions are held each weekend of the month at locations in metro-Atlanta. See our website at www.bhrg.org for specific dates and locations.

A $200 adoption donation is required for dogs under 8 years of age. A $100 donation is required of dogs 8 years old and older. This donation defrays the cost of shots, spay/neuter, heartworm treatments, and other vet costs.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Once the application is approved, a pre-adoption home visit is required for families outside the metro-Atlanta area. Post-adoption visits are required of families with approved applications. Once the application is received & approved, a volunteer will call to help you select the right hound for your lifestyle.
